Values

Values

After many thought provoking and helpful discussions about what the values are of the HCF, we arrived at the following. The values, outlined below, will help guide us as we make decisions about all aspects of the HCF as well as in our relationships with our partners.

We value cooperation that involves working with each other as board members as well as with organizations. We strive to engage with organizations and each other in a manner that is respectful and transparent as a means of building strong, intentional relationships that encourage further collaboration and partnerships. As a board we also strive to willingly problem solve to promote and engage in teamwork throughout all activities within the board and with other organizations.

We value commitment on several levels. As individuals, we commit to being inclusive of all people. As a board, we commit to working together, exploring different ideas and being open to discussion of different views. As a donor, the HCF commits to responding to all applicants including those we would like more information from as well as those whose programs do not fit our mandate. We also commit to engaging with organizations in a timely and professional manner.

We value responsibility in terms of reviewing all applications and approving those organizations that we believe fit with our mandate. We assume full responsibility for making sure that the board members all adhere to legal and regulatory standards. It is our responsibility to manage and oversee the foundation’s financial condition and its investment portfolio.

We acknowledge and value the work, missions, and goals of the charities we contribute to and their positive impacts on society. Additionally, we respect the organizations’ independence, autonomy, and decision making processes and place value on following guidelines and open communication. This respect is essential for building trust, fostering positive relationships, and achieving shared goals of a better world for all.
